We had beautiful weather this weekend so we went to work on getting the electric fence put up for our cow. (Did I mention how excited we are about this?!)
We had some really good help!
Luckily we are surrounded by neighbors that keep cows and so we were able to link up to their fences on two sides. We started out by getting all the posts laid out and in the ground. We used mainly plastic step in posts and then used big heavy duty T-posts for support where needed.
Next we ran a stand of wire at nose height for the cow so that it would train her not to walk through it. Because the location of the field isn’t near a power source for the electric fence, we opted for a solar fence energizer. I figure we are killing two birds with one stone….getting power for the fence and not using any electricity from the house to do it! Score!
Now on to the montage of photos that my daughter took of us putting up the fence. 🙂 Both of the kiddos worked super hard though to help us get it up along with our neighbor. It is always nice to have neighbors that know what they are doing and are willing to help!
Hard at work!
She is a selfie queen! Hahaha!
We are in a severe drought right now so it is really low but it is really neat to see all the deer tracks around it! The kiddos ended up getting stuck in the mud and had to go directly in the showers afterwards! 🙂
